Frequently asked questions
It depends on four things: your industry cluster, the seniority of talent you need, how hard your cost target is and how often your leaders will travel. Pune leads for accounting, engineering and manufacturing, Mumbai for banking, financial services and insurance, Bangalore for technology and deep engineering, Hyderabad for pharma, life sciences and semiconductors. Tier two cities such as Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Kochi, Indore and Jaipur work well for cost led or spoke centres.
The tool weighs five factors that you control with sliders: cost advantage, talent depth and scale, industry and domain fit, travel and working hour overlap with your head office region, and speed, infrastructure and retention. Planned headcount then adjusts the shortlist, because centres above roughly four hundred people need Tier 1 depth while first teams under fifty often do better in a Tier 2 city.
Yes. On a fully loaded basis Pune runs at roughly seventy two against Bangalore at one hundred, so twenty five to thirty percent lower for equivalent talent, with lower attrition. Tier two cities such as Indore and Coimbatore are a further ten to fifteen points below Pune.
A first centre with a scale ambition above two hundred and fifty people should anchor in a Tier 1 hub for leadership availability, then add a Tier 2 spoke in year two for cost and business continuity. A first centre of twenty five to fifty people in a rules based function can start directly in a Tier 2 city.
