The result: an Accounting GCC can hire 50 CAs in 90 days here, a feat that takes 6 months in Bangalore.

The cost arbitrage inside the arbitrage

Grade A office rent in Hinjawadi and Kharadi is 30 to 40% below comparable Bangalore submarkets. Fully loaded cost per FTE for a mid-level CA is roughly 18 to 22% lower than ORR Bangalore. For a 200 FTE GCC, that is USD 1.2 to 1.6 million of annual savings before you have written a single line of code.

Why Japanese and German GCCs picked Pune

• Established Japanese industrial base (Tata Motors-Marcopolo, Bajaj, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, JCB) creates supplier-grade Japanese language and process talent.
• Two hour drive to JNPT and Mumbai port keeps engineering and supply chain teams close to physical operations.
• Lower attrition (16 to 19% vs 22 to 26% in Bangalore) means a CFO does not rebuild her team every 18 months.

What this means for a global CFO or COO

If your GCC mandate is Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Controllership, Engineering, R&D, or anything that needs to feel boringly stable for 7 years, the default answer is Pune. Bangalore remains the right answer for AI research, deep product engineering, and venture-grade tech leadership. Pick the city to fit the function, not the brochure.
